The Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance company is recognized as one of the most innovative and powerful forces in the dance world. In recent years Mr. Jones has been awarded a MacArthur “Genius” Grant, and in 2007 he was the recipient of an Obie Award and a Tony Award for choreography. In addition, his musical Fela!, based on the life of groundbreaking Nigerian composer Fela Kuti, recently opened to superb reviews on Broadway. This awe-inspiring company will present a piece based on the life and work of Abraham Lincoln, which Mr. Jones was commissioned to create for Lincoln’s bicentennial. This breathtaking show has received universal acclaim since premiering in 2008, and now it will come to Asheville to close the Bravo Season.
