The Mikado

THE MIKADO

November 13, 2010

Thomas Wolfe Auditorium

Now in its fourth decade of operation, New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players (NYGASP) is America’s preeminent professional Gilbert & Sullivan repertory ensemble. Now local audiences will experience their stunning rendition of The Mikado, or The Town of Titipu. The location is a fictitious Japanese town full of colorful characters. The eminently humorous satire, follows a fleeing musician, Nanki-Poo who falls in love with a girl, Yum-yum, who is already engaged to the Lord High Executioner Ko-ko. The motley cast also includes a hilariously corrupt public official, a gaggle of schoolgirls, and the Emperor, or Mikado, himself.
